I had the privilege of attending a workshop on blogging this past weekend.  Serene Faith led the workshop and offered some great tips for both picture taking as well as presentation.  I took notes and have decided to put her suggestions into practice beginning with this entry.  I hope you all like the changes I'm making.  Til next time...

 



A Walk In the Country

This past week has been quite busy in my RL.  Lots of events kept me away from Second Life and my blog.  Today I was able to log in and put my RL on hold while I took a walk in the country.  Beautiful fall colors lit up the landscape, golds and oranges seeming to glow in the sunlight.  The weather cooperated although there was a decided chill to the air and I am glad I wore this cosy cardi from H.O.F.

Summer's Last Gasp

Today in the Northeast US it's cool and sunny with a whisper of fall on the breeze.  However, the past couple of days has been hot and humid and filled with distant thunder.  I've decided to go along with summer's last gasp and put together a quick summer outfit to show you.

Simple Style

Well, school is back in session and this is going to be a fun year for me in RL.  I've met my kids and we're getting to know each other a bit as we move through our school days.  In SL I've also started school - modeling school.  We were given our first assignment which is to put together a style we're comfortable in.  I don't know what style that says 'ME' but this look I've put together is definitely comfortable.  It's a bit boho and a bit casual chic at the same time.  I hope you like it.

We Will Never Forget

I will always remember what I was doing on the morning of September 11, 2001 as will most everyone else who considers America their home.  The horror that played out in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington DC is indelibly etched on all our minds and is freshened every year on this date. 

I'm not going to write a sad post about September 11 and remembering our fallen, I celebrate the courage and bravery of those who acted to save and give you the words for Brad Meltzer.

Every 9/11, I think of our neighbor, Michele Heidenberger, a flight attendant on the plane that hit the Pentagon. Today, here's why I also owe the heroes of United flight 93:
We owe these forty men and women. We owe them personally.
“They’re talking about crashing this plane into the ground. We have to do something,” Thomas Burnett Jr. told his wife, Deena, on his cell phone. “I’m putting a plan together.”
“Who’s helping you?” his wife asked.
“Different people. several people. there’s a group of us. Don’t worry. I’ll call you back,” he replied....
Flight attendant Sandra Bradshaw called her husband and said that she was boiling water as a weapon. Her final words: “everyone’s running to first class. I’ve got to go. Bye.”
“Let’s roll,” Todd Beamer famously added as they rushed to the front of the plane, likely using a beverage cart as a battering ram to break into the locked cockpit.
Thanks to their bravery, their Boeing 757 crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, never reaching the terrorists’ real target.
It was approximately twenty minutes from Washington, D.C., where the plane would’ve struck either the White House or, more likely, the U.S. Capitol.
That’s right.
The U.S. Capitol—where my wife worked. That morning, on September 11, 2001, she was eight months pregnant and was driving to work at the Capitol.
Every passenger—and all the terrorists—lost their lives in the crash. But their bravery saved so many others.
We will owe these men and women forever.

Thank you all for your sacrifice and thank you first responders and volunteers who tirelessly worked to find even one survivor.  Thank you America for standing up for your beliefs.  I stand beside you with pride an awe at your actions.  God bless us all.

London Calling

Visiting England has always been a dream to me.  I'd love to be able to see London in all its glory.  Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, The Eye, London Bridge and of course Buckingham Palace and the Queen.  That particular trip is on my bucket list but Second Life has allowed me to indulge my dream.  I visited virtual London today and the weather held up.  It was a beautiful summer day in London, albeit a rare occurrence.  I wandered through Regents Park and even saw Abbey Road, home of the most famous Beatles' album cover (yes, I remember vinyl albums lol.  If you don't, Google it) Besides sightseeing, I wandered the streets, peering in the shop windows.  Of course wandering and shopping calls for comfy clothes and shoes and this outfit I present today is one of the most comfortable in my wardrobe.  I hope you like it.
