A Walk In the Country

This past week has been quite busy in my RL.  Lots of events kept me away from Second Life and my blog.  Today I was able to log in and put my RL on hold while I took a walk in the country.  Beautiful fall colors lit up the landscape, golds and oranges seeming to glow in the sunlight.  The weather cooperated although there was a decided chill to the air and I am glad I wore this cosy cardi from H.O.F.

Summer's Last Gasp

Simple Style

Well, school is back in session and this is going to be a fun year for me in RL.  I've met my kids and we're getting to know each other a bit as we move through our school days.  In SL I've also started school - modeling school.  We were given our first assignment which is to put together a style we're comfortable in.  I don't know what style that says 'ME' but this look I've put together is definitely comfortable.  It's a bit boho and a bit casual chic at the same time.  I hope you like it.

We Will Never Forget

I will always remember what I was doing on the morning of September 11, 2001 as will most everyone else who considers America their home.  The horror that played out in New York, Pennsylvania and Washington DC is indelibly etched on all our minds and is freshened every year on this date. 

I'm not going to write a sad post about September 11 and remembering our fallen, I celebrate the courage and bravery of those who acted to save and give you the words for Brad Meltzer.

Every 9/11, I think of our neighbor, Michele Heidenberger, a flight attendant on the plane that hit the Pentagon. Today, here's why I also owe the heroes of United flight 93:
We owe these forty men and women. We owe them personally.
“They’re talking about crashing this plane into the ground. We have to do something,” Thomas Burnett Jr. told his wife, Deena, on his cell phone. “I’m putting a plan together.”
“Who’s helping you?” his wife asked.
“Different people. several people. there’s a group of us. Don’t worry. I’ll call you back,” he replied....
Flight attendant Sandra Bradshaw called her husband and said that she was boiling water as a weapon. Her final words: “everyone’s running to first class. I’ve got to go. Bye.”
“Let’s roll,” Todd Beamer famously added as they rushed to the front of the plane, likely using a beverage cart as a battering ram to break into the locked cockpit.
Thanks to their bravery, their Boeing 757 crashed in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, never reaching the terrorists’ real target.
It was approximately twenty minutes from Washington, D.C., where the plane would’ve struck either the White House or, more likely, the U.S. Capitol.
That’s right.
The U.S. Capitol—where my wife worked. That morning, on September 11, 2001, she was eight months pregnant and was driving to work at the Capitol.
Every passenger—and all the terrorists—lost their lives in the crash. But their bravery saved so many others.
We will owe these men and women forever.

London Calling

Visiting England has always been a dream to me.  I'd love to be able to see London in all its glory.  Piccadilly Circus, Big Ben, The Eye, London Bridge and of course Buckingham Palace and the Queen.  That particular trip is on my bucket list but Second Life has allowed me to indulge my dream.  I visited virtual London today and the weather held up.  It was a beautiful summer day in London, albeit a rare occurrence.  I wandered through Regents Park and even saw Abbey Road, home of the most famous Beatles' album cover (yes, I remember vinyl albums lol.  If you don't, Google it) Besides sightseeing, I wandered the streets, peering in the shop windows.  Of course wandering and shopping calls for comfy clothes and shoes and this outfit I present today is one of the most comfortable in my wardrobe.  I hope you like it.

Feeling A Little Blue

Thank You

This morning when I got up I fired up the 'puter and brought up my usual fashion feeds to check what was new and hot.  One of the posts I read was from Cajsa Lilliehook.  She and Squinternet Larnia, owner of Donna Flora were great friends and Cajsa posted a video Squinternet made back in April.  She was also passing the news that Squinternet passed away this morning. 

I didn't know Squinternet but I do know her wonderful designs.  This woman was such an integral part of the fashion scene in Second Life.  Her creative genius gave us so many designs that she will forever be a part of SL fashion. 

Thank you Squinternet Larnia for making my Second Life a little more sparkly.  You will be greatly missed.

A Walk on the Beach

Today is a gloomy, dark and rainy day here in the Northeast and the urge to escape was super strong.  In SL I thought a walk on the beach would brighten my mood and sure enough it did.  I tp'd to Baja Norte and walked along the boardwalk.  The sound of the waves and the smell of the ocean were just what I needed.  Of course this outfit from Baiastice for FameMESHed helped a lot.  I love the way the Mjrie top hugs and accentuates my curves.  I hope you like this outfit as much as I do.

Touched by an Angel

I Want To Ride My Bicycle

I Want Candy

Today I went back to Siren Production's event 'The 24'.  This time I took the yellow path and visited the pose exhibitors.  Many pose makers were represented and I enjoyed previewing a lot of their creations but I did miss some of the makers that I'm familiar with.  Nonetheless there are so many poses to check out that I enjoyed my afternoon.  While I was there I also went through the womenswear pink path.  One of the exhibitors I missed last time was Prism.  Lag wasn't too bad today so I was able to get into their booth to see what they had to offer.  I picked up the dress that I present to you today which is named after one of my favorite childhood candies.  Hope you like what I have to show you today.
